govt constant push for singaporeans to get married and have babies seems to work. mediacorp, subsidary of Temasek holdings have been screening TV episodes of babies and couples getting married recently. oftenly, its the parents of the singaporeans who will be staying at home watching television after dinner. this might have some psychological effect on the parents to pressure their children to get married. This tv series, although not officially screen, but its constant appearing on the TV has been affecting my mum recently. i dont denied the baby girl in the show is very cute, however it makes my mum to crave for a baby girl in the house. wats more frustrating was that she constantly asked whether i had a gf in sch and wans me to settle down. (-_-“)

mum: 啊伟,学校有没有女朋友?
me: 没有啦 (feeling awkward)
mum: 为什么你这么烂,没有女孩子喜欢你。。。
me: *silent* (i’m not edison chen wat… where got so many girls for me to fuck ard with*)

this isnt the 1st time and its not as if i love to be single. just that i had serveral things to worry abt rather than getting into a relationship. i dont even know how is my health condition, and i dont even know wat to do aft i graduate. who doesn wants to be edison chen? rich and handsome… other than self-recording his video and transferring them to his computer

I came across this quiz from a friend’s blog. i would like to share it over here because i find its rather accurate for me.

Your view on yourself:
You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don’t like conflict. Because you’re so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.
*i agree with this.. and most of the time i try to be neutral and diplomatic when dealing with people*

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.
*erm.. not too sure how committed am i. let time confirm this statement*

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.
*i dont think i’m ready to commit yet because i dont have the capabilities to*

The seriousness of your love:
Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.
*i’m pretty straightforward at times. as in i’m frank abt myself. but whether its attractive or not, i dont know*

Your views on education:
Education is less important than the real world out there, away from the classroom. Deep inside you want to start working, earning money and living on your own.
*absolutely true. although i’ve been studying for 16 years, but its more abt satisfying my parents dream rather than mine. in terms of judging people, i dont consider education background as well*

The right job for you:
You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don’t focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.
*its true as well. i’m still unsettled. i love to be a doctor, a teacher, a banker, a police officer and etc. however i cant possibly do everything. i’m lost!!*

How do you view success:
You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.
*not so true abt this. i’m rather pessimistic*

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.
*true, i agree with this point*

Who is your true self:
You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.
*yup! i’m a gemini, unpredictable…*

didn turn up for school today due to medical appt. went for 2 appt., i came back with 4 more appt. i’m dread of going to hospital every now and then… its draining my time and money away.
while surfing in youtube for interesting videos, i came upon this video clip, juak neo’sversion of our national song “we are singapor”. i heard this in the movie “money not enough 2” and today i heard it again. its pretty funny. i’m really took my hat off him.. he never fails to entertain.. :p

This shall be the highlight for the end of beijing olympic 2008. i got myself a shock when i saw this being reported in “today in Beijing” on channel 5. Matos, a cuban player executed a high roundhouse kick in the referee’s head when he was disqualified for exceeding the 1 min of injury time given. as a tkd practioner, i felt that this is an insult to the tkd spirit. not only this guy gets stripped off and banned from tkd, it reflects bad on the sport as well.

in life, we cannot expect to win all the time. and no one is able to do so as there is always someone better out there. we’ve got to learn to accept defeat, learn from our mistakes and enjoy it the sport. if one is able to win all the time, goingto genting would be a better way out… this way, he is able to win tons of money…

also, being a sportsmen should be able to control their furstrations… throughout the olympics, i’ve seen numerous sportsmen/women lost their match because they could not stay calm and control themselves. i understand that this is really hard under that kind of stress and situation. however its the basic spirit to accept win and loss graciously. i seriously hope the panel do not remove taekwondo from future olympics events because of this incident.

while going to the final year, its time to think and consider abt the future. however, it makes no difference from the pri sch guys going to secondary school, or secondary school guys going to colleges. so.. what is the similarity? BRANDS!!

while having discussions with some friends regarding the future, the first thing came out from them was the 3 words “MNC”. What are we actually looking for in our career? Is the “brand” of a company really that important? In fact, our society had already set a standard that a person is considered successful when he is being offered a job in the MNC. There is no doubt that MNC offers high salary to employees. however, the large pool of talents in the MNC might pose threats and induce competitions. Yes, i do agree that competition do helps in bring improvement at times. however, if one is determined to be successful, regardless whether there is presence of competition, it doesnt matter.

Similarly, thousands of sch students are fighting for a place in the few branded schools in singapore. Do branded school have special trained teachers??? no! as mentioned from a friend of mine who is teaching in one of the branded schools in singapore and it is not true that 1st class honours graduates from NIE will be posted to branded sch. in fact, she only had a pass with merit and she’s still being posted to a branded sch.

in my opinion, if you are good, nobody can take your abilities away from you. you will succeed eventually. there is no need to think of how others look at you. quoting from TPK “its usually the middle income are the ones who buy branded goods, the very rich buys imitations” why? because they dont have to show that they are rich. people naturally knows abt it.

back to the career topic. though i have not really decide on where i really wan to work, but at least i had ruled out the possibly of further studying as a postgrad right aft i graduated.
firstly,
i do not wan to dig out anymore money from the bank account. its time to fill some money back and contribute for the family.
secondly,
i feel that the mentality “i cannot find a job/dont know what i wan to work as —> solution is to further study” is just a diversion of the problem. i had made this mistake once and i shall not repeat it again.

wats the difference between the rich and the ordinary?? This morning article mentioned several differences… i shall highlight 3 of the differences which i strongly feel for it…

1) The wealthy use money to buy time, but the ordinary use time to buy money
in the past, people go over to JB for cheap petrol… however from singapore to JB and back takes abt 1 hr… for the rich, they would be able to make use of this 1 hr to make more money. they would rather fork out few dollars more for that 1 hr of time.

2) The wealthy dont spend time and money unnecessary
branded stuffs are usually more soughted by those middle and high income earners. they want to wear branded because they wan to appear they belonged to the wealthy. the wealthy dont need all these stuffs… people just know it. they spend time wisely, they make value out of their time. to them, time is money..

3) wealthy borrow money from banks, ordinary save money in banks.
currently banks interest rates for saving accounts is less than 0.5 %. this cant even beat the inflation rate we are having now… which means putting $$ in bank = losing money. the wealthy are able to realise this and they place most of their money on appreciating assets which earns them passive income. on top of that, they borrow money from the bank to make even more money out of it…

sounds simple??? not really… one needs to have the endurance, guts and determination to achieve that…

i went to gym with tanky and kel on tue… i was afraid tanky was going to release all his body-building talks on me that i told him in advance that my purpose for going to gym was to exercise and physiotherapy… not to bulk up… thankfully, he’s rather considerate, instead of asking me to do heavy load, he advise me to do light weight and constantly asking whether my back can take it…

tanky suggested we have a run round the school… but i’m advised by my specialist not to have long distance runs, so i would have to train my cardio using the cross trainer… “why not u run on the treadmill??” i asked… tanky refused to no matter how hard i try to persuade.
the reason he gave: because there are too much distractions…
kel said: he has this phobia because he had a sprained neck while running on the treadmill last time
me: sprained neck??? what has running on the treadmill got to do with the neck??
kel: because there are distractions
me: distractions????
kel: yah.. once he was running on a treadmill, a girl with big boobs was running on the treadmill machine beside him. instead of looking straight, he kept looking to his right moving his head up and down accordingto the “tempo”… and after 20 mins of treadmill, on top of the sore legs, he got a sprained neck.
moral of the story: always look straight while running on the treadmill; dont get distracted…

In fact, its healthy looking at breast… at least it proves a man is normal. According to this article (click on this link to read the full article) which i came across sometime ago, looking at women’s breast actually prolong the lifetime of a man. i’ll quote a line from this article “Looking to (big) breasts for ten minutes equals 30 minutes of aerobics, according to doctor Karen Weatherby.” for tanky case, 20 mins of cardio + 20 min of watching breast = 120 mins of aerobics for him!!!! no wonder he lost so much weight in such a short time (other than the sprained neck which he suffered due to high cyclic mechanical fatigue)… it would be a good idea to look at breasts while travelling in MRT or bus as u can do aerobics even while travelling to work or to school *killing 2 birds with one stone*… however, the danger you might face is getting a tight slap across your face… (if u happen to kenna, dont come to me… i dont know how reliable this article is :x)

talking about sports, Singapore got our first ever “imported” olympic medal… it might not be something to be proud of, but its something to be happy for :p… gold or silver doesnt matter anymore… 16 August 2007 shall be the day tobe remembered for (hopefully govt makes it a public holiday… 😡 which i dont think is possible)…i regard this as our 1st olympic medal because Tan How Liang got his silver medal in 1960, which was before the independence of Singapore

i’ve been listening to jay chou’s songs quite frequently recently.. from old songs in the 周杰伦 album to the latest 我很忙 album and several concert’s album. I’m impress by his talent in music and song writing… i dare not say i’m his fan… because, i never own a single of his album (believe it or not)… however, i love to listen his songs, sing his songs and interprete the meaning of his song lyrics. The only supportive things i’ve done are going for his 无与伦比 concert in 2004 and publicising his songs to people whom i know (dont get it wrong, i’m not distributing his songs, but just publicising) :p

to me, his songs are unique in a way and it takes time to appreciate it… simply put it this way…
周杰伦的歌,
听了一次,很失望;
听了几次,有希望;
听多了,越来越渴望! :p

i started to appreciate his song when he releases his 3rd album, 八度空间, one of the less popular album. i think it sucks.. and didn like it when the 1st time i’ve listened… 1st thing on my mind was “what rubbish is this guy singing??” however, i started to like it when i listened it over and over again… and every new album he releases its the same kind of feeling

In our life, we tend to condemn someone, or something when we have a very bad first impression of him. give him a second chance, he performance might be far exceeding expectation when u starts to appreciate his style :p u feel he gave u a bad first impression could be due to u not being fully understand about him. give a person or something a second chance, u might change your point of view :p

During makan excursion with ah lim during this monday, we came across a “cute” topic…

free or fee??

the difference is in the letter “r”. and that little “r” stands for the word relationship.
usually, a service with a good relationship with the service provider comes free whereas a fee is required if there is no relationship with the service provider.

for example,
you have to pay a FEE for having sex with a sex worker as there is no relationship involved. on the other hand, having sex with your girlfriend is FREE!!! because there is a relationship involved..
well, bad anology i guess.. haha

however, this is somewhat true in our lives. people tend to exploit this relationship. i had a friend who was helping another friend to set up a booth selling accessories for 4 hours free of charge. no comission, no profit sharing, no salary… just because there is a relationship of “best friends” involved… I understand its hard to turn down an appeal from anyone, moreover shes a best friend. if i’m in her shoes, i guess i’ll do the same as well…

how i wish i could have friends of different profession such as
doctors – medical consultation free
lawyers – legal consultation free
accountant – financial consultation free (and ask for some tricks to avoid tax)
and so on… *grins*

Thats the power of relationship :p

I saw this interesting piece of work on my way home last few week. it was situated in jalan membina. the number 43 is made up of empty plastic bottles contributed by the people in the neighbourhood with its bottom painted red. i’m one of the contributors :p its gonna be Singapore’s 43rd birthday in another 10 mins time. however, i’ll have to work in JE swimming pool, thus missing the live broadcast on TV. i wish a happy 43rd singapore!!

its beijing olympic 2008 grand opening today… other than the 6 events Singapore is participating in, i’m most interested in the taekwondo event… chu mu yen, light weight tkd player from chinese taipei, won the gold medal in his 1st ever olympic game in Athens 2004.. i’m impressed by his lightning fast speed and gung ho-ness…
